Random

Here is a list of the random things I thought about on our trip to Lufkin to visit my parents this past weekend.

Official logo of Lufkin Industries where my dad retired from after 36 years of service (just thought you'd like to know :-)

1. My boys can play video games for three hours straight.

2. My husband is content with not talking for three hours straight.

3. I can read books for three hours straight (as a result of #1&2).

4. My husband says the air is clearer in Lufkin. Hmmm... I've never noticed.

5. I've lost touch with pretty much all of my friends from Lufkin and I'm ok with that. People enter your life for a reason and a season.

6. My extended family isn't very close. I'd love to remedy that situation cuz it's a bit sad but I am at a loss as to how. Lots of issues that need to be worked out there. Two of my brothers still live in Lufkin and I didn't even lay eyes on them. Geez!

7. I found out that my cousin (my age) died from cancer...five years ago! That goes back to number 6.

8. Why on earth does my 76 year old dad have an iPhone? He has no computer, thus no Internet access, and has never sent a text message or email in his life. He's never even surfed the web for goodness sake! All that technology wasted. (update: my dad sent me his first ever text message this evening). He's so cool!

9. My boys need to spend a little time in the country to rough them up a bit. Feed a few chickens and hogs and enjoy the great outdoors. They are a little too citified for their own good.

10. I miss my folks when I'm away but once I'm back home I realize why I left! Hey...I'm just being honest here! Distance makes the heart grow fonder. Or is that absence? Same difference!

With Love,

I'm still here!

Sorry for the blogging break.  We've been a bit busy (atleast I have).  Mother's Day, followed by my 33rd birthday, followed by wrapping up the end of the preschool year for the boys and getting Evan squared away for kindergarten next year. Can you believe that my baby will be in elementary?  I am excited and sad at the same time.  I'm so used to having the boys home with me during the week. Anyway...

On top of all of that, we did a doggy sitting trial at our house for several days.  Casey, a cocker spaniel...we think, was the perfect dog if there ever was a perfect dog out there, but Ian was terrified of him.  We had to carry Ian around on our hips or sit him up on the counters the whole time Casey was with us.  Evan on the other hand was great.  He woke up and let Casey out to potty in the mornings. He made sure Casey ate his food and he even tried to teach him to sit.  Terrance admitted that Casey was one of the better dogs out there but he enjoys the freedom of not having a dog so since the house was divided 2 against 2 we decided to not keep Casey since we were not all on the same page.

So I'll hit you all with some updates pretty soon.  Have a great weekend!

Here's a picture of Casey...isn't he sooo adorable!

Here we are on Mother's Day enjoying the breakfast that Terrance had prepared for me when I got home from work!  YUMMY! (and look...Ian is smiling)

A New Look

Check out my new blog design!  Isn't it beautimous?!  Erin over at Designer Blogs designed it for me and I just love it!  I was a little skeptical about hiring a professional to design my personal blog but I'm glad I didn't talk myself out of it because I love how it turned out...and there was no way I could have done anything remotely close to this!

In other news....It's spring break here and we are headed to Kansas City to visit Grandma & Grandpa.  The boys are so excited. They've been talking about it all week.  Terrance and I are excited because we get a break from the boys to see Grandma & Grandpa too!

I'll keep you all updated on the wonderful time we are having shirking our responsibilites visiting family!

Friends

I value friendships. They make the world go 'round... or is that love that makes the world 'go round?

Anyway, I've had friends that have come and gone for a variety of reasons. I agree that some people can be in your life for only a season but there are others who you are lucky enough to have around for a lifetime (unfortunately you won't know if they will be around for a lifetime until your lifetime is over but that's another post for another time!)

I've got a couple friends that have known me for what seems like forever (and they still choose to be friends with me). I love looking back over the years at how our relationship has grown. It gives me warm fuzzies!

So here's a shout out to my most ancient girlfriends... Tangela & Ashley!

Happy Thanksgiving

Hope every one has a very Happy Turkey Day. Take time to count your blessings! Here's an Evanisms to put a smile on your face.

While visiting my parents in Lufkin for Thanksgiving, here's a conversation that took place in my old bedroom...

Evan: Mommy did you used to live here when you were a kid?
Me: Yep, this used to be my room.
Evan: Now you live with us.
Me: Yeah, I live with my own family and when you grow up and marry a sweet girl you can come back home to me and daddy to celebrate Thanksgiving.
Evan: I'm going to have a girl and name her Porsha and I'm going to have a boy and name him Negro.
Me: WHAT!?
Evan: Negro. That's Spanish for black.
Me: Oh

Happy Thanksgiving!

What A Day

Man, this was an interesting morning. All I wanted to do was take the boys to the zoo. I was supposed to meet Greta there by 10:30 and for once I was scheduled to be on time when anything that could happen....happened.

First, Ian soiled his diaper (with loose stool) and then flopped down on my bed and shot stool out of this sides of his diaper onto my sheets! Gross! So of course I had to strip the bed and wash the bedding.

Then Ian poured his entire bowl of fruit loops onto his lap which meant that I had to strip him down and clean the kitchen floor, table, high chair and him!

Next I had to bathe Ian because stool remnants, fruit loops and milk don't mix.

Then while getting myself and Evan ready to go, Ian throws his toy car into the toilet and commences to try and fish it out. Thank God we have elongated toilet seats so he couldn't reach down to the bottom of the bowl. But I did have to clean him all over again because he did attempt to head dive into the toilet water.

We finally made it out of the house at 10:40 and made it to the zoo by 10:55.

All in a days work I suppose!
