Monday Manna

I believe that there is a heaven and a hell and that God has laid out specific instructions on what gets us into heaven and what will lead us straight to hell.  Many people feel that just being a good person is enough to get them into heaven.  They think that just because they donate to the Feed The Children fund and adopt a stray animal or they are generous and forgiving in nature and try to not break any of the Ten Commandments then they are good to go. 

Unfortunately, that's not so.  Of course our deeds are taken into consideration but you have believe in Christ and obey His word in order to even have a chance to make it into heaven.  Many people are just 'good people' but they don't believe in Christ and many people claim to believe in Christ but wallow in sin.  The good news is that God knows our hearts.  He knows those of us who are truly striving to get to know Him and obey His commands.  On the other hand, He also knows which of us are all talk and no action. So we have to have faith in Jesus Christ and turn from sin.  Pretty simple if you ask me. 

I John 2:3-6
³We know that we have come to know him if we obey his commands. ⁴The man who says, "I know him," but does not do what he commands is a liar, and the truth is not in him. ⁵But if anyone obeys his word, God's love is truly made complete in him. This is how we know we are in him: ⁶Whoever claims to live in him must walk as Jesus did. 

I John 3:5-6
⁵But you know that he appeared so that he might take away our sins. And in him is no sin. ⁶No one who lives in him keeps on sinning. No one who continues to sin has either seen him or known him.
