I baked a breakfast casserole the other day when I was in my cooking mood. I was actually saving this casserole for Christmas morning to make for my in-laws who were supposed to spend the holidays with us but since they won't be able to make it, (I'm not bitter or anything) I decided to go ahead and make it for my family. It was super easy to make and Oh so yummy so I decided to share the recipe. Enjoy!
Ingredients:
- 8 eggs slightly beaten
- 6 slices of sourdough bread cubed
- 2 cups whole milk
- 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese
- 1 pound crumbled sausage or bacon
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp dry mustard
- mix wet ingredients
- pour over meat, bread and cheese, toss
- pour into greased baking pan
- refrigerate over night
- bake for 35 min @350
ingredients: I used turkey sausage instead of the pork sausage pictured but I'd already cooked the sausage before I decided to take the picture so I found this pork sausage in the fridge to use for the picture. Also I used regular white bread instead of sourdough bread because it's all I had available
This is how it looks before refrigerating overnight and baking. I let the boys help mix the ingredients and it got kind of messy but they had fun.
Here's the finished product. It is a nice mix of all the flavors. I've made it before with Sage sausage and I liked it better. Terrance likes the casserole with bacon instead of sausage but I'm partial to the sausage.
I make that cassarole! Yummy! And I'm partial to sausage also.
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking I might give this a try for my Christmas morning breakfast. Thanks for sharing!
