Monday Manna

Why are non Christians so intolerant of Christianity? I was listening to the radio and they were talking about passing new legislation to change content in our history books to take out the section on Christmas and to remove B.C. and A.D. from our history dates in an attempt to be more inclusive of other religions. Well, I'll say.

If the goal is to truly be more inclusive of other religions then just add those religions to our history books instead of deleting what is already there. It won’t hurt our children to have a couple more chapters added to their curriculum. History is history no matter how you look at it. It’s not all peaches and cream and you can’t ignore facts just because you don’t like them. It is what it is.

I remember there was a push a while ago to remove all talk of slavery in our history classes. Why? People owned slaves. It sucked and I’m sure some white people were embarrassed to know that their ancestors were rotten slave owners and some black people get upset when this fact is brought up over and over but like I said….It is what it is. What’s that phrase “Those who don’t know their history are doomed to repeat it”

Back to the intolerance issue. Why do other religions get so upset when Christians share what they believe. They say we are shoving our religion down their throats or we are intolerant of others just because we stand up for and share what we believe in. Yet, they want to make sure that we acknowledge and respect and learn about their religion. And how is it that we have to take all references to God out of our schools, but learning about and acknowledging other religions is fair game. After all, there are approx 3 billion self proclaimed Christians in the world today (I heard that on the radio, as well). As long as we are sharing our beliefs in a respectful and loving way….what’s the big deal?

Don’t get me wrong. I like that we are tolerant of all races and religions. If the situation were reversed and our nation was founded on Buddhist principals then I would want there to be some freedom for me to worship my God and share the word of my faith to others without consequence. I just don’t like the trend we are starting to see that includes all other religions but excludes Christ.

Our country was founded on biblical principles. Why should that change now. It is still the United States of America. We are now witnessing the ramifications of the whole separation of church and state thing, yet we keep on doing what we’re doing. When will we ever learn?

In reference to Jesus Christ:

Acts 4:12
“Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved."
