Monday Manna

I've been really on top of my resolution/life style change/decision to study God's word. I can't describe to you how in awe I am over how much I've learned in these few short weeks of study. So much I've learned and so much I'd love to share but I'll take baby steps and I'm sure you will all be grateful for that.

I actually read a book on how to study the bible called A Modern Girl's Guide to Bible Study and it has a few good tips on getting the best out of your bible study experience. Well, the book emphasized the importance of journaling. Journaling can be whatever you want it to be: thoughts, scriptures, notes, questions, etc.

Well, in my journaling. I jotted down a few reasons why I thought it was important to study the Bible and here they are for your reading pleasure...

1.God's word is who He is and we gain knowledge about Him from the verses.
2.Proverbs 19:2 It's not good to have zeal without knowledge (or know matter how much we love God, we have to get to know Him)
3. Bible study is more than reading the Bible, it is actively working to understand the truth's contained in His word.
4. How can we say we seek after the Lord when we give him 5 minutes of our day but watch an hour long TV show or take an extra 20 minute nap.
5. The Bible contains instructions on how we should live a life pleasing to God.
Psalm 119:9 How can a young man keep his way pure? By living according to your word.

This list is by no means complete. There are plenty of reasons why you should study God's word. These are just a few that I wrote down off the top of my head. Yes, all of this is in my journal. I know the thoughts are kind of random but I'm just sharing bits of knowledge that I've learned on my quest to learn more about the God I serve.

See ya next Monday

  1. I love #4!
I always thought of studying God's word as actually giving me "taste" or making me "salty"... salt of the earth kind of thing. Not very tasty these days. I will be encouraged by you and get with you!
