Monday Manna

I am not a very patient person.  It is a character flaw that I really need to work on.  My impatience manifests itself in varying degrees.  Sometimes I become angry when I'm impatient, other times I'm jittery or annoyed.  As you can see, all of the above emotions have the potential to cause more harm than good!

Take bedtime for example.  I just want my boys to get in the bed.  I don't want to read three bedtime stories.  One is just plenty.  I don't think it's cute when they jump on my back while I'm on my knees trying to find their pajamas in their drawer. It hurts when I'm not prepared for it.  I don't feel like going downstairs to get one more cup of water.  They won't die of thirst in 8-10 hours.  I don't think their made-up bedtime musical solos are entertaining because they should have their mouths and their eyes CLOSED!  I usually end up telling them just how I feel in a voice that is a couple of decibels higher than it should be and I head back to my bed feeling guilty.

Well the Bible tells us in 1 Corinth 13:4 that love is patient and kind... UH OH! I definitely am none of the above in the previous scenario.  Now that I've admitted that I have a problem...I need to get busy asking God to help me fix it!  How 'bout you?

  1. I just apolgized to my husband for nagging. I need lots of help!

  2. That's so funny, I was just thinking last night; "Why can't Toby just close his eyes and go to sleep; Why does it have to be such a big ordeal to go to bed". Toby wants to be an acrobat when he goes to bed...
